What are the 4Cs of diamonds?

The most important system for determining diamond quality is known as the 4Cs . This system is used to evaluate four different characteristics of a diamond and is a globally accepted standard.

The first criterion is called Carat . Carat refers to the weight of the diamond. Higher carat values generally mean larger and more striking stones. However, the value of a diamond is not solely dependent on carat.

The second criterion is **Cut**. The cut determines how the diamond reflects light. A well-cut diamond appears much brighter because it reflects light better. Therefore, the quality of the cut plays a major role in the appearance of the diamond.

The third criterion is **Color**. Diamonds are classified according to their degree of colorlessness. The most valuable diamonds are colorless. Therefore, color grade is one of the important factors affecting the value of a diamond.

The final criterion is **Clarity**. Clarity refers to the amount of naturally occurring imperfections within the diamond. Clearer diamonds are rarer and considered more valuable.
